PURPOSE
The purpose of this award is to recognize exemplary practices in learning resources/libraries
within Florida’s 28 community colleges.
The award also serves to increase awareness of the role that learning resources/libraries
play in support of the community college mission and in support of student success.
Since 2007, each year two awards are given - one for a MLS Librarian and another
for a Library Support Staff member. Each winner will receive $250, a plaque,
and priceless recognition from colleagues!
ELIGIBILITY
An eligible entry may be an innovative new practice or an established, but improved,
practice that increases awareness of learning resources/libraries within the
Florida community college system. The basis for the award is the current academic
year.
Nominations should show evidence of performance clearly consistent with the
mission and goals of their institution and of the Florida Association of Community
Colleges.
A Florida Community College employee who is a member in good standing of the
Florida Association of Community Colleges or who has joined the Florida Association
of Community Colleges organization by the date of the submitted entry.
PROCEDURES
1. Nomination packets should be clearly labeled. Each nominee should have a
completed nomination form and practice entry packet that meets the criteria
for the Exemplary Practice Award.
2. Nominations for this award must be submitted to the Chair
of the Learning Resources Commission. The Chair will appoint a committee to
judge the nominations and to select the finalist. The finalists will be asked
to give a 15-minute presentation at the Annual FACC Convention. If the finalists
cannot attend the Annual FACC Convention due to overwhelming circumstances,
the finalists must submit a 15-minute video presentation.
One original (1) and four (4) identical nomination packets, including supportive
materials, should be sent to the LRC Chair.
Support materials are welcomed and encouraged.
Nominees should be:
• Employees at a Florida Community College Library or Learning Resources
Center
• Members in good standing of FACC or have recently joined the Association
or by the date of the submitted entry
• Able to attend the Annual FACC Convention or be able to provide a 15-minute
video presentation
